The Roastery


Back in 1992, when Sierra started roasting, a small 5 kilo Dietrich roaster was installed in the back of the first Sierra café on Jervois Road, Ponsonby. This manual roaster was what the sierra house blend was created on. Due to the popularity of this taste profile, a very similar blend is still used today!

Sierra have upgraded the roaster twice in 18 years. The current new roaster was installed July 2008 at Sierra's new Head Office and Roastery in Albany. The 45 Kilo Dietrich Automated roaster is a "state of the art" gas roaster, that records the roasting profile once created. This helps our master roaster create the consistency in every batch.
